Les and Bill

Les and Cheryl in front of the Grand Ole Opry

Had my first visiters from Detroit. My friend Les and his friend Bill were in Nashville this weekend attending a “Pumper’s” convention. There were 30,000 Pumpers in Nashville! And boy, do those Pumpers know how to have a good time! (Detroit should really come to Nashville to learn how to host a convention. They really know how to do it right.)

Les and Bill invited me tag along with them for the fun stuff.

On Friday we went to the Nashville Palace. Everywhere you go in Nashville there is music … and it’s always live! No disc jockeys here … no way! [The Nashville Palace is where Randy Travis was discovered. He used to wash dishes there. Seems that how most of the country/western stars start out.] There was a young man of 16 performing that night. He played an incredible electric fiddle and I keep thinking … Boy would Adam love this!

On Saturday night we went to the Grand Ole Opry and saw a four hour live concert with Cledus T. Judd. He’s the country western version of Adam Sandler. He takes country western songs and changes the words. He is hilarious!

Next up was Phil Vassar. He was my favorite. I’d like to get his new CD “Shaken Not Stirred” Phil Vassar

Next, Neal McCoy. .

Then, Trick Pony.

Trick Pony.

What a great night of music with great friends. I’m really enjoying country music, much to my surprise.

Thanks again Les & Bill!
